Kin is a place for get togethers, for family friends and fur babies alike, it has been a Teneriffe staple for over a decade and provides the D&CO team with our daily sustenance.

When Tim and Allie from Kin approached us asking if we could help them make their space more like a home from home we knew we were helping to create somewhere very special. They knew they wanted a space that reflects their name - KIN - where coffee and chat is flowing and friends and family gather to catch up. They had a love of ply wood and stainless steel (music to our ears, as this not only looks great combined, but is super practical for commercial spaces), and all things natural and earthy.

We used their preferred materials, staining the ply for a warmer more homely feel, alongside some cork tiles for the central seating wall, soft callico and linen fabrics for the the cafe curtain and large feature pendants and it was starting to feel like home already!

Ensuring we utilised the same footprint inside, with notable improvements - namely changing the pillar facing hi-bar seating to low outward facing bench seating, and creating more covers for the upper bench seating, we have created a warm and inviting space.

Clever feature lighting has helped create the mood and softened the industrial vibe from the exposed ceiling of the Woolstore. Outside the gardens were culled and a mix of teak and resin (both selected to withstand the pressure of outdoor living in QLD) stools and tables add to the welcoming vibe for outdoor seating.
